Tomorrow should be fun I’m off to Langley Distillery to explore options for them supplementing our Lilliput Gin production for export, can’t wait to see the plant. I’ve had a million people want to catch up now I’m apparently ‘off work’, the scheduling of said catch ups now feeling like quite a commitment, lucky for me I’m leaving the country next Friday so that will put pay to any UK based catch ups accept for those in sunny Brasil. So this weeks looks kind of busy already, I’m speaking at two events for International Women’s day, one at Sky on Wednesday for the inspiring Paul Sessay from the Diversity Group, and one with the fabulous Donna Herdsman from Rullion on Thursday.

I’m on this sabbatical to do a few things, and I’m not quite sure they all support each other in terms of being aligned to the same outcome, so firstly it’s amazing after 12 years of partnership to have a little break and hopefully refresh myself ready for my next PwC adventure, then I really need to get my new Gin business, Lilliput Gin, in better shape to grow, it started as an experiment and it’s got quite out of hand - apparently lots of people like Gin, who knew? I also need to spend some quality time with my partner Rodolfo and despite him being Brazilian I’ve not explored much beyond São Paulo and Rio so that feels like a good idea for something to do together, and finally I have a few exciting new things on the cards at PwC that I need to prepare for and whilst I’m off I’m committed to help support our fantastic PwC UK Alumni team, especially with our spectacular PwC UK Alumni LIVE event in June, and last but not least I have a few important new deals I really want to see through to success with our International Development clients - ok so I clearly can’t switch off that much, hence why I’m calling this a ‘flexible’ sabbatical, just writing that long list of stuff is making me exhausted, maybe another nespresso and a chat with Lukas will help. In a slightly sadistic and unhelpful way, it’s nice to remind the potential Partner hopefuls that the Parner Sabbatical only kicks in 8 years from successfully entering the partnership - he says smiling inside but secretly wondering what the hell is next for him. Monday, 5th March 2018, my nespresso machine and my dog Lukas are both already concerned by my presence, this is their time to relax and i’m officially invading their space… so this is the first day of my PwC Partner Sabbatical and as it happens I’ve realised my sabbatical starts just when everyone at PwC that I’ve worked with in 2017–18 is looking for feedback for the end of year evaluation process or for some intrepid ‘Indiana Jones’ types getting their papers ready for the PwC Partner process.
